1996 K1500 Z71 Silverado high beam problems
I own a 1996 Chevy Silverado Z71 K1500 pickup, and i have a few issues i need help with.
First off, My high beams will not come on. The low beams work fine but when i try to switch on the high beams they will not activate.
Second, My windshield wipers work for the most part but on occation they seise up and will not work. If i pull on the wiper arm with my hand while operating the switch they will begin to move.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, i've already considered that. Its gonna run me about 200 bucks for the switch at AutoZone but i'm not sure if i wanna try and conquer that repair on my own, or just take it and have it installed.

well i havent had any time to address the issue because of work but i just quit my job today (what was i thinking?!?!?!!) so i might as well take the free time i have at hand to do a little more research or take the truck and have the switch tested and other possibilites checked. after i do that i'll let you know how it went.

old thread but heres the update on it...
I was leisurely cruising down the highway when the alternator decided to lock up on my Z71 and not only did the alternator lock up but it smoked the belt in the process. so needless to say i figured i would have the multifunction switch replaced while it was in the shop for a new alternator and engine belt.
$900 dollars later the truck has a new alternator, engine belt, multifunction swtich, windshield wiper control chip (not really sure what its called but its mounted on the wiper motor in the little black box), and a new shifter linkage cable.... expensive fix but atleast the truck is in fully operational condition now.
