Cam question
#2
Ok what you need to know is mainly the lift. The stock valve springs are only good up to a .500 lift. Any more and your valves will float, NO GOOD. What you might consider is do what I did. I found a stock cam out of a LS1 motor. It was in a 2000 T/A. I paid 20 bucks for it. Cam only. It has a .497 lift 202/198 duration. That cam alone added 26 hp. Then the tune for it brought it up to 36 hp. It does not lope at al. But I noticed I have more rumble at 1/2 throttle. I have had people tell me my 5.3 sounds like a LS1 and not a truck. I got alot more power on the top end. My shift points changed from 5600 to 6200. So if you can find one for a couple bucks, well worth it!! The install took me bout 3 hours. Didnt even have to take out the lifters!!
