1998 Silverado fan speed problems. . .
So, i'm new to the forums. I surrently own 3 trucks. A 2001 chevy blazer 4x4 (for sale), a 1998 silverado 2wd reg cab, and a 1982 Jeep J-10 4x4. My silverado only has 40,000 miles on it and still smells new on the inside...lol Anyways, I have a problem with the fan speed inside the truck. My heat is hot, and my a/c is cold, but the blower only works on hi. none of the other speeds work anymore. They just stopped working. I have been told it is just a fuse that is inside the dash, but I don't know. I would like to know what the problem might be. I am very mechanically inclined and can fix it myself, I just suck at troubleshooting..lol So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for the help.
P.S. I am finally getting around to installing a CD player in it.... but am not entirely sure how the dash comes apart. Any help with that would also be appreciated!
oh yeah.... heres a pic of my truck. Its really dirty from the road salt and stuff but its the only pic I have right now...

RE: 1998 Silverado fan speed problems. . .
Both of your problems are simple. The fan speed problem is the fan reostat or resistor depending on who your talking to. Its located under the right side of the dash right beside the fan. It should have a four or five wire plug in on it and two or three screws that hold it in the heater box. The outer piece of the dash surround just clips on, just pull back on the corners and it will come loose, you will have to have the key on partially to drop the shifter down to get the surround passed it. And the radio just clips in also, push the clips down and it will slide right out. Its self explainatory once you have the surround off. Good luck.
