Default 2008 Chevy 1500 t case adapter

I have a 2008 Chevy 1500 crew cab that is 2 wheel drive and I want to make it 4 wheel drive. I was looking online but didn't get a lot of info on how to attach a transfer case and adapter onto it. I am not worried about getting a solid front axle, that isn't hard, or a hard swap really. But if anyone could give me some info on where and how to get the adapter and which one, and how and where and which transfer I need that will bolt to the 4L60E that would be great. And how hard it is to wire the selection buttons into the dash, or if it would be better to just have an manual lever for it.

I think your best bet is going to be to either look for a new truck or just a chassis and running gear you can drop your cab onto.

I don't know a ton about it, but the conversions were a PITA back on the older model trucks... I can only imagine the complexity of them now
