4.8 Vortec swap into C/K?
So I recently wrote of my baby (It lost an argument with a tree) and am looking for new trucks. But, The motor and tranny in my old one still run beautifully, so it would be a waste to get rid of it. Is there any way that the motor would be backwards compatible and go into a CK? And if so, would it even be worth it?

Depends on the year.......You probably should pull the whole wiring harness out of your truck too, so you will have everything you need. If you are decent at the electrical side of things, it can be done
In 1996, they went to OBD2,,,,,everything before that (88-96) was OBD1, which is not the same.....

Ya SURE I think it would be worth it.
Along with any other components to bring your CK up to more modern standards.
But as Poncho said.. It's not gonna be a bolt on turn key and go.
You may run into motor mount issues along with tranni cross member alignment problems too. Don't forget that engine wiring harness.
But if you through enough money at it I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. (It will create that WOW!! facture when you open the hood)

Thanks for the replies guys! The wow factor is definitely what I was going for, and I think the fuel economy would be allot better with my 4.8. But the time and money is kind of turning me off to the idea. My truck still runs and drives (Beautifully actually) But the cab is beat up pretty bad :/ thinking I might just part it out on Kijiji, buy a truck of the same body style, and swap my rims, cold air etc over.
