Default 4X4 in-operative, ACTUATOR?

Hi guys, this is my first time posting on this site, im a long term user of the ford truck enthusist web site, so please bear with me,

Well heres my problem, I purchased my truck in augest, and have had no problems untill now,(knock on wood, just rolled 205,000 miles. with no oil leaks and a strong motor) its a 1993 gmc k1500, ext cab, 4x4, 4.3lv6 5spd/low range tranny.

I was using the four wheel drive thursday in the snow, and it was working great, as it has many times before, then I stopped at the store, went in got myself a coffee, and came back out, when I started my truck and went to back up, I had no four wheel drive, so I waited, and waited, and waited, nothing. so I put it in four low, and tryed that, nothing, the light is off on the floor and seems the front end is not locking in.

So I got it home, and checked stuff over, I have power at the actuator on the front diff. but nothing happens, it dosent seem to be doing anything inside,

But before I condem the actuator, at just shy of 100 bucks, I wanted to check with some people that may know this stuff, I am ford MLR certified, but this is nothing like what I see on the super dutys, so any help would be appreciated,

Thanks for your time,
Jeremy Pfeiffer.

if its easy to take the actuator out.....try to apply power to the correct terminal and listen for it to work...but it really does sound like the actuator is bad...and its the cheapest thing to replace concerning the 4x4 system.

yeah Think im just gonna put a new one in, im going to go aftermarket, id rather go OEM, but the local dealer only will sell the updated one, whick is not thermal, but an electric motor, they say it works better, and more positive, but. its $120, not bad, but it needs a $90 wire harness, not worth it. so ill have to change it and see what happens. thanks for the input.
