5.3l LS1 Engine Swap

Engine swap
I've been following this thread. Is it possible to simply to simply take out my 4.3 V6 and install a crate 5.3 V8. My main concern is will all the electrical connections simply plug back in ?? I have 145K on my engine, and might like having a bit more power. I have a 2002 1500 extended cab 2 wheel drive.

No spark
On the 5.3, there is a ground cable that goes from the back of the intake manifold to the firewall. Do you have this on? Maybe the other engine didn't have it. Also, how are you confirming there is no spark?

Did you leave the tranny crossmember in place when you pulled engine? I'm hoping all I have to do is unbolt bell housing and torque converter bolts and slide the engine out. Sounds like to much work if I have to mess with dropping tranny at all.

Lc9...
Yes nice thread, read the whole thing. what I do find strange is that no one called out the incorrect motor designation. Now, I'm not DI#% head, Just a factomatic dude. The 5.3 is a LC9, I had an LS1 in my 99 Z28, 348ci.. nicer heads, crank and state of tune. Go to LC9 Crate Engine - Crate Engines: Powerful and Classic Chevy Race Engines | Chevrolet
You can see all the crate motors that pretty much drops right in. they have a couple motors that just drop into your application. Complete motors with everthing need to roll. just hook up the radiator, air intake, a few wires and shred those tires... In the minds eye, I see me dropping in a new LS3, they about $1200 more than a new LC9 that would be my proper motor. But it will it will never happen as my wallet is empty.
Have a great day!
