Is the 5.3L motor the same as the 327, or 350, or neither? Also, what about the 6.0L and 6.6L, 396, or 427, or what?
Just wondering.

 

the 5.3 is a 327 cubic inch motor, the 6.0 liter motor is 364 cubic inch.
the older 5.7 were 350
gm 5.0 were 305 where for 5.0 were 302

different animal though...4.8,5.3 and 6.0 are generation 3 engines...totally different than older stuff

 

true but they should have kept the 350 and just made it an animal like the 5.3
although i do like the 5.3 just hate the gas mileage.

 

heh, my dad's 5.3 get's pretty darn good gas mileage actually. Better than most of the guys of talked to with 350s in there trucks.

 

I was under the impression that the 5.3 was actually 324 or 325, not 327. That what the specs say in my manual. Im pretty sure it is 324. Not that it matters all that much.

 

My 5.3 gets about 2 mpg better than my neighbors 97 5.7, and WAY BETTER mileage than my 5.0 in my old 91.

 

the 350 achieved all the mpg and emissions possible..twas time for it to go...

 

GM'S website claimed the 5.3 for my 06 was a 327. a unit conversion program that i have claims it is a 325. summit lists parts for it as a 325. most i think generally call it a 327.

i know that each vehicle is different. but city driving right now im seeing 13.5-14mpg (with all the mods i have listed) with the 3.42 gears (which GM royally screwed up by taking away the 3.73). granted it is considered winter right now for another week or two. oh well, i like my truck and unless gas gets to close to $4 gal i will keep her.
