Default Air Conditioner/Heater only works on high

Like title says, it only works on high. Everything works fine except it only works when it is on highest. I have a 2000 silverado.

Sounds like a blower resistor gone bad. Here is a link to one on eBay

I'm having the same problem. Do you have the part number for the resistor? The ebay link is dead.

Many thanks!!

no doubt. on high it bypasses the resistor, so if it only works there you know the problem.

Part number from Advance Auto is RU1064. Price is $28.99. Takes about 5 min total. 2 min to change the part, 3 more minutes to finish your beer.

Default resistor

After reading another post on this I found the location of the resistor. It's located below the glove box by the fan motor. You have to remove the plastic panel cover to access it. Bought a new AC-Delco resistor (made in SLOVENIA) part #15-81087. Cost me $36 bucks at KOI parts store. Took about an hour. Remember...I'm kinda old. Blower works fine now. After removal of resistor it was easy to see it was a little cooked. Thanks for all the inof on the forum! Next job is fuel pump Since I have a fifth-wheel rig in my bed I think we'll try removing the tank instead of the bed...
