I need to install a brake control on my 2001 chevy Silverado 1500 . I would like to buy a complete kit, control, wireing, plug and anything else I might need. Problem is I can't find a complete kit. Can someone recommend one or what I can do.

If your truck has the towing package, all the wiring should be there. You just need to connect your brake controller to it.

If not, I dont think there is a total kit available, never seen one anyways.

As for controllers, I would recommend a Prodigy P3...they are very good

 

So, you should buy this controler:

and do exactly as they say in this video for installing the 7 pin adapter to your truck:

First link should come with an adapter to plug right into your fuse block under the dash, so no wiring needed there. Second link is a wiring harness that you use to splice right into the factory trailer wiring already provided on the truck. That's gonna be the easiest way to have an brake controller and 7 pin connector installed on your truck. That's what I would do. I just finished putting that same brake controller and a similar 7/4 pin adapter on my 96 silverado, and I really really wish that they made kits like that for older pickups ... those links I have you make installing this stuff a breeze.
