center console question...
Still digging into minor issues with this truck. 2000 Sierra, 2wd, 5.3l, auto.
OK this can't be that complicated. I'm trying to get into my center console by pushing in the large button on the front face. Seems to push in only on one side and will not release.
So; anyone got a picture of the mechanism or can someone walk me through the procedure to "jimmy" it open? Once in; I'm sure I can figure out what's needed to repair.
Thanks
Dan

there should be some screws on the back side of the center consol where its mounted to a hinge take the screws out and it shoulf lift right up from the back and slide out of the latch its stuck in
my dads 99 ive had to do that to a couple times
to solve the hard to push problem i just sprayed some wd40 on the springs and cleaned them and used a little bit of bearing grease just a little like the size of a grain of rice otherise youll just put to much and build gunk back up on there hope this will help

Thanks cubpak.
OK, I'm in!
Couldn't see any screws from the outside with the lid closed. Persistence and good luck paid off; as I forced the button in with too much force I was able to open latch enough to disengage and open the top.
I will remove the complete assembly and clean/lube which has probably not been done since it left the factory.
Thanks
Dan
