Default HELP!!! temp. gauge messed up and it runs rough

I have a 1992 silverado 4x4..it has alot of miles but is still running strong..a few weeks ago the temp. gauge went from 0-260 with in 5 mins but then it goes back down and then back up..its not really running hot so i replaced both sensors and replaced the ground wire to the sensor on the intake..after i did this the truck wud idle about 1500 and the service engine light came on..it wud idle back down but when i put it in gear it wud almost die and then sputter when i take off..im tired of guesing and replacing sensors that dont fix anything..the problem is getting worse and now when i rev it up it almost doesnt want to idle back down

If the check engine light is on, it should be thowing codes. Read it and see what the codes are. Don't guess.

What she said... I'd also replace the thermostat just because they tend to go bad anyways.

If you find a solution let me know because for some reason my 92 has a faulty gauge. The truck runs fine and everything, but my gauge doesn't move once the truck is running. It goes below 0 when the truck is off. then when it starts it never gets above 110. I replaced the thermostat and everything is working fine, but the gauge just isn't reading correctly.

Welcome to the site by the way!

Hey 92, change the temp sender. Check for grounded out wires. Oh, no offense taken, but I'm a chick.

the first thing i did was change thermostat..i replaced both sending units and thats when the check engine light came on so i had it hooked up to a code reader and it didnt read anything..i replaced one ground wire but i cant find any others (i hate electrical) like i said the check engine light didnt come on until "after" i changed the sensors..sometimes when i start the truck the check light doesnt come on for a few mins..other times it comes on instantly
