Greetings
I popped the hood to clean out my throttle body and i came upon this leak beneath the throttle body. The truck is an 03 Silverado 4.3--V6 (Should've gone with a 5.3, I know)..

I found what seems to be a blown gasket, though I am not entirely sure what gasket it is or what component it belongs to. Can you please help me identify what is this leak?
The pictures show a close up and far away shots.

Ive checked oil levels and no significant drop is present.

Intake manifold gasket maybe? I have a hard time identifying what that part actually is, from the picture. Intake manifold gasket or valve cover gasket I guess.

 

Yeah from what I can make out in the pics it looks like an intake gasket. Are you losing any coolant? It looks like I can see a little Dex-Cool orange coloration in it.

 

I had a coolant problem several months ago, i added some stuff to the reservoir to seal it up.
If it is indeed a blown ntake gasket, would I require any special tools to replace it?

 

Just a few basic tools and a torque wrench. If you don't own a torque wrench thet can be rented at most auto parts stores and it ends up being free. Pay for it, use it, return it, get a full refund.

 

Get the thicker gaskets too, not the cheaper ones, or you will have the same problem again later down the road. These motors are a little notorious for this.

 

My Tahoe started getting coolant leaks through the intake manifold gasket at 80K miles. Malibu's can often have the same problem after only 24K miles. Buy an after market quality gasket and not something from the dealer. Cost will be the same and the after market will last a lot longer.

I took it to four different dealers as I knew something was wrong with the truck but none of the dealers were able to locate the problem and changed out smog devices to the tune of $1400 but with not results. Once I started to rapidly lose coolant it was clear that the power problems were do to coolant coming into the engine's cylinders along with the air/fuel mix.

I think ill do the repair myself, i know ill wont mess anything up. I ve had bad experiences with dealers.

Interesting that you mention the loss of coolant and loss of power because ive had both those symptoms.
Now, If i simply swap out the gasket will that fix my problem? Or did the coolant cause any possible damage in my internals?
