Default fenderwell trimming

I noticed when I installed my intake that there is only 2 small openings inthe fender for air to get through. This may be enough, but I wouldn't think so. Has anybody tried making these larger? and did it help? Here is a pic, sorry it is blurry, I outlined the openings in red.

I haven't cut a larger hole yet, but I too have thought of doing this.

I'm hung on trying to find material that is water proof and air tight and flexible enouigh to squeeze in between the air box and the fender. after finding such a material I'm cuttin away

I don't understand what you need the extra material for. Also there is room to cut more, just a brace in the middle to avoid.

Here is my take on it,
I went ahead and cut the plastic peices out of my stck box and dremeled the holes that they butted up to. the only reason I can think of for having those in is if you have a sealed ram air intake or to maintain the stock setup. I feel like it made a difference too. My theory is that since i run an open filter I want as much fresh air coming in as possible. good luck! I'd say go for it.
