I have an 89 Silverado 2500 2WD with 383 stroker and turbo 400 trans. I need help with the proper installation of the oil cooler lines. Does the out line on the oil cooler block (the piece that attaches to the engine block) get attached to the upper or lower plug on the radiator? Thanks for any help you can give.

You should be able to tell by the hoses, but it doesn't really matter which one goes to which fitting. As long as the oil is pumped through the radiator one way or another it will cool the oil.

 

Thanks Shamrock, the reason for my question is because I tried to pre-oil my newly built 383 stroker after installing it in the truck. I used an old modified distributor shaft and a heavy duty right angle drill that is rated at 600 rpm. I drilled clockwise for several minutes with the valve cover off the driver side head and I could only see oil coming up on 4 of the 8 rocker arms. The engine was biult with a full roller rocker assembly (1.5 ratio). To me this is alarming and I am concerned about starting the engine with a possible oiling malfunction. I remember reading somewhere that the oil journals on a stroker biuld need to be bored out larger. I am wondering if possibly this was not done, and if so what would be the resulting problem from failing to do so?
