I guess it would be up to your own personal taste. I have 40 series on my truck. I have used them on the last three trucks that I have owned. To me the 40 series sounds the best.

Default 40 Series

I have 40 series on my restored 1980. 350, auto with 4.11 gears. Perhaps a little loud, but I really like the sound. - To each his own. -- Good luck.

40 series is the most aggressive of the flowmasters. I had flowmaster and it just had to much drone, so i went with magnaflow and not looking back.

I was wondering the same thing as i have the 50's series on my '03 with the 4.8L and it sounds nice but i too am thinking about eventually going to something just a smidge louder. Are the 40/44 series really alot louder than the 50's series? Thanx, Jim

hey, finish my duals today. i figured 40 series would be loud but after it was all done it was really not that loud. its sounds awesome tho. we did it cat back with 3" pipe and 3.5 tips. im going to drive it for a week or so see how it is but i was thinking of just straight piping i guess the cat really muffles the sound. i was just wondering about back pressure because i don't wanna hurt anything.o yeah the 40 series i put on were of a muscle car so they were broken in

and to jim i would go with straight pipe or super 44

Just happened to follow up on this topic and like i said, i would like "JUST " a bit more rumble than the 50's series. It won't be for some time anyways as theres nothing wrong with my mufflers/exhaust but when the time comes, maybe i'll try the super 44's next time. This time, i was not there when they installed the catback system, maybe next time, i'll plan it so i can be there, and then i can hear the difference. It took about a week for the 50's to break in, as they were brand new. Thanx everyone for the info, Jim

Default Straight pipe ?

Ok, I have stock header manifolds, stock cats, with spintek muffler...Single in dual out and dumps over rear end..not tips.

If I removed the muffler, and just ran the cats...and stright pipe over rear end and dump it.

Would this be to loud?
What else do I need to think about?

Doug
