Default Power mirrors don't work?

What's the best way to check the function of the mirrors? I just replaced the switch thinking it was that but they still don't work?? I'm sure it's the mirrors themselves having 256K miles but I'd like to make sure.

This may sound weird but being in the business I have seen this on more than one occasion. Make sure the mirrors are actually the powered type. I have come across a few trucks that came factory with power mirrors and for whatever reason the mirrors that were on them when I bought the trucks were manual. If they are power check for power to the wires at the harness that goes to them. If there is power there then you know the mirrors are bad. Strange that both would go out though.

Mine are both out. They didn't go out at the same time though. Then, last week I tried to pull the whole mirror in, and it snapped right off. Dammit anyway.

[quote=alconk;]I'm **** about it as well. I want all the lights to work. I tried to remove the light from the power mirror switch and broke it while trying.

I just fixed a 2001 Silverado today that neither side was working. I took the switch out after finding that there was power coming into the switch, but nothing coming out. I took the switch a part, which was simple with a small flathead screwdriver. I then cleaned all the contacts inside with a Q-Tip and some alcohol. Put it back together and it worked perfectly.

I have a set of power/heated mirrors that I'm trying to sell. I removed them to install a set of the HD towing mirrors forund on the 2500 and 3500 series Sierras. They make it much easier to see around my 30' Travel Trailer. Shoot me a PM if interrested.

98 gmc jimmy,, outside heated electric mirrors both wont turn to the right & up/down/left I had to push the button very hard a few times to get it to move, so I replaced the switch (& cleaned all contacts) - at least now I have left/up/down,, but both mirrors will not move to the right (same as old switch)... as I got looking around I noticed that a 1 inch section of the wiring harness 3 wires were exposed, what looked like the plastic covering was worn off- I checked it was not touching anything moving, I traced the wires back- they go to the door control panel- next to the door lock, not to the switch itself- although it on the side of the panel. I would hate to buy a new harness if that is not it.... but seems weird that both are not turning to the right... either I got a bad switch (ebay).. or its a wiring issue... I taped up the exposed section, & then taped the wires together in the harness- didn't change anything.

Default I have a 2003 GMC 2500HD duramax diesel

My power mirror adjust works fine for the driver side (left side). My passenger side power mirror (right side) does nothing. It looks like no voltage is getting to the right side mirror plug. Anyone have any ideas or maybe a wiring diagram including plug numbers that crosses thru the cab of the truck?
