Default Reseting "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT."

Turn Ignition on, do not start, put into neutral, press gas pedal 3 times, holding it down on 3rd press. Light will go out. This is for guys like me who change their own oil. The CEL will go off after 5k to let you know it's time to change your oil. If your like me, changing oil every every 3k, you can expect it to come on soon after.
Hopethis helps

I was gonna say, neither my 03 Sierra, nor my dad's 00 Sierra have ever turned the check engine light on to tell you to change the oil. The Change Engine Oil indicator does come on at about 3,000-4,000 miles though. Depends on what it's set on. I believe that is something the dealer can calibrate with their computers. I know for a fact VW's can be calibrated in 500mile incriments as far as when you want the light to come on.
