Default Tire Pressure for 2500 HD Crew?

Hi Everyone... what do you recommend running for tire pressure on a 2500 HD? I know the recommended on the tire is quite high (Toyo Cross Country HT), but the shop made it lower saying I don't need the high pressure except under load. Any opinions/advice?

It think we should make this a sticky since it seems to come up every couple of weeks...

Look on the side of the tire. Different tires have different pressures that are reccomended. ususally you should run the tire 8 to 10 psi less than what max pressure rating is on the tire. Pressure rises with heat so dont set it to the max.

Again it depends on the tire. Not word of mouth... Each tire has different reccomended pressures.

the tire is made to run the psi it says, doesnt matter if its stiff, thats the psi its designed. dont follow instructions, bad and funny wear on the tire and loss of tire life.

It does vary but generally you want to run between mid 30s and 40. Open your drivers door and look at the side of thedoor and see what it says.

My 3/4 ton Chevy came with 245-75-16 load range e (10 ply rating tires) These tires have a maximum tire pressure limit of 80 psi.

I run them at 50 psi, havegood control and fair wear (about 40K per set) but this truck works hard. Pulls camper and trailers on rough roads.

It rides rough enough as it is, if I put 80 psi in tires, guess I would bounce off cab roof.

I have a 04 2500HD Ext. Cab. 245-75-16 Tires.GM rec. 50 FT 80 REAR. I run 45 PSI unless I am towing, thenI run 80 in the rear. I tried running 50 psi all the way around but the ride is too stiff.

This is a little old but this will give some of you an idea of what to run. Obviously you guys in the bigger silvies will need more.

I'm running 70 all around, it actually givesyou better gas milage. Kind of hard to believe but its true. It all really depends on whatyou want and what your doing. I do tow about 2 or 3 times a week. I did have 45 and it just seemed like it cornered that well and if u have a trailer kind of moving in the wind, it wasn't fun.

My opinion:

Smooth ride:45-50

Towing:75-80

Mileage:65-70.

Default Max PSI for OEM Wheels?

I'm new here and have a question. I want to go to Load range E tires with 80 psi max. Will my OEM alloy wheels handle 80 psi? This is for a 2000 Silverado with the OEM Cast Aluminium Wheels.
