i'd change it...maybe not at 120k,but at 80,sure.

TIP...find a shop that WILL REMOVE THE PAN AND CHANGE THE FILTER.....so many places have gone to "flush" machines...gm in no way endorses this,as it stirs it all up too much...

Argon have you heard of anyone having problems running Royal Purple in there newer Chevy pickups? I've been considering draining mine, switching filters and going with Royal Purple but haven't heard any feedback on it yet.

I don't think it's ever a bad idea to change fluids. That way, you know the life and quality of the fluid. JMHO

mattbow no I didnt have any problems with it afterwards. the only rreason i had it done was that I bought the truck used and I didn't know how long the fluid had been in there.I was always taught to change fluids, plugs ,wires ect... when I buy a used vehicle

This is what a royal purple tech sent me when i inquired about their products For my 2006 Z-71:

Jason, Thanks for the email - For your Silverado, the RP 5W30 for the engine, 6.0 quartsRP MaxGear 75W90 for the front and rear differentialsFront - 1.85 quartsRear - 2.1 - 2.75 quarts depending on which size diff ring gearRP Synchromax for the transfer case - 2 quartsRP MaxEZ Power Steering Fluid for the ps pump - 1 pintRP Purple Ice Coolant Additive - add one bottle to the existing 16 quart coolant mixtureFor the automatic transmission, GM has come out with a new Dexron VI in 2006.We recommend staying with the factory fluid as using a none factory approved product would void your 5 year 100,000 mile warranty.Attached is a tech memo on this from GM.Royal Purple does not offer a Dexron VI alternative at this time.David
