Transmission Fluid/Filter Change

Transmission Fluid/Filter Change
Can anyone tell me the best way to drain and change all of the transmission fluid and filter on a 2000 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4? Do you just bend the shift linkage bracket back out of the way to drop the trans pan? How can I get all the fluid out of the torque converter without removal? Thanks, Chris!

I have heard mixed reviews on the flush. I personally had a 2002 Tahoe that when it hit 60,000 miles I did a full flush at a Firestone store. Two days later my wife is driving it and she said it felt like she was rear ended and it was the transmission going bad. There was no sign of any issues before the flush, it was simply a preventative maintenance thing. It ended up costing me $1800.00. I am not sure if that was coincidental or not, but it seems a little odd. Since then I simply drop the pan and change the filter and just replace whatever fluid comes out. Good luck!

I had my 2007 Yukon XL 5.3 L done at i believe 70 000 KM=43 000 Miles the tranny was slipping and extremely low on oil. No leaks anywhere. I have a hoist and put it up before i brought it to the dealer. Took it to dealer and they told me that the truck was due for a tranny flush anyhow. So i said go ahead and now has over 90 000 KM=56 000 Miles and have had no troubles at all. I cant remember the exact price somewhere around $100.00. From what i understood they didn't drop pan as they said that it was not time to change filter and there was no metalics in the oil they swapt out. How they know theres none in the pan is beyond me but not my problem as this is why i bought the $4000.00 extended warrenty thats good until 180 000 KM and 2013. Extended warrenty always worth it if you can buy it.
