I have a 2003 LS Silverado, 4.8L, 2wd, short bed, ext cab and I got a couple questions. First off will this lift fit my truck with no other accessories, in other words is that all I need to jack 'er up there? http://www.hopupracing.com/fa7pecrsyfor.html

Next is how easy would it be to put on a kit like that myself or should i just get someone to do it?

My other question is i wanna tune my truck. Any recommendations of tuners, how i should go about doing it, where i should go or what i should do?

That lift should go on fine, but I would suggest a pro to install it if you dont feel comfortable doing it. (Id pay for installation myself)

As far as a tune, I have a Blackbear 87 tune and its alright.

I hear the Westers and Wheately tunes are good too but more expensive.

In order to properly handle the tires needed to fill up the fender space on your truck after that lift, I suggest you regear to at least 4.10. mabye even 4.56 if you plan to go over 35".

 

If you do that lift with bigger than 35" tires you will have to regear the rear end the 4.8 is a boat anchor to begin with and if your going to try turning 35" or bigger tires you will be way under powered especially if you ever want to tow.

 

Yep, especially since your truck more than likely is running 3.42 gears...

With those, 33" tires will be a little much, IMO.

 

how much would gears like that run for? and is that an easy install or something needing to be professionally done

 

For tuning, id say to check out the Diablo sport. My buddy and i both got one and i love it! Also for little cheep tricks, descreen your MAF sensor on your intake and get a throttle body spacer.

 

I wouldnt suggest a TBS on the 5.3, MOST that buy them say they do absolutely nothing except produce a kewl little whistle noise.

On the other hand I have been thinking about descreening my own MAF sensor...

 

what does removing the MAF sensor screen do?

 

Screws with your A/F ratio if you're not tuned for it. There will be people that say they did it without issue, without a tune, and that's cool. But you might wind up being one of the ones that has detonation damage because your A/F ratio is screwed up.
