Default whining noise

whats up guys i got a new noise thats buggin me. Whenever i hit the gas it makes a whining noise much like a bad power steering pump would. I though maybe it could be my power steering but it doesnt do it when im turning. Could it be the power steering? if not than any other idea what it could be? any feed back would be much ablidged.

Well.....is the power steering fluid full? How about the Transmission fluid? the alternator or the water pump? Can you pinpoint the sound when you open the hood?

Time for either the stethoscope or the old long 1/2" extension in hand and ear tool!

Does it only do it when driving or in park as well?

I would pull the belt off and start it up to see if the noise goes away. Don't let it run for a long time b/c you won't have any fan or water pump.

Spray each pulley with a squirt of WD40. When it goes away you might have found it. Just my 2 cents.

What he said. I've got a spinning noise that happens from time to time on my truck. Whenever I hear it I immediately grab the WD-40 and soak down everything including the belt. It'll go away for 3-4 months. I think mine is a spun alternator bearing though.
