Default Fuel Economy

I have a 03 Dodge Ram 4.7 STL QuadCab and im onlt getting 13.3 mpg. My friend has a one of these big Infiniti SUVs and is getting like 16-17 mpg...
Im wondering if there is a way to increase the gas mileage... i know you can get a intake or exhaust, but which ones are the best?
Any suggesting or comments will be appreciated. Thanks

Whit has a point. Adding things like a CAI and exhaust will help out. Try putting a bed cover on the back. This will add a little to your mileage by reducing the amount of drag on your truck from the wind smashing into your tailgate. One of the cheap vinyl bolt on ones work very well. Check your local parts store for one.

I've run K&N intakes and Flowmaster Exhaust on my gassers. The only way I ever got noticeably better milage was by keeping my foot out of it

My 4.7 gets if about 14 mostly around town driving as long as i keep my foot out of it. Only mods are K&N filter and jet stage 2 chip.

we have two 5.9s...a 94 fuel injected magnum and a 83 carbed ramcharger....the 94 is modded, and gets around 10 due to the gearing...the old ramcharger gets around 15, if im lucky...

there has been some excellent advice here, like the CAI and exhaust, as well as a good bed cover...also i suggest things like regular maintenance...things like 3 step engine cleaners improve efficiency...
