Heat not working right
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram. I just need a little help with a Heat problem. Not sure when this started. I live in MN, when my truck is all warmed up and I am driving the Heat works just fine. the problem is with i am slowing down stopped or just idling the Heat stops working and turns to cold air??? DO you think i have a bad thermostat or am I low on anti freeze? The truck does not over heat and runs fine other wise. I do not have any fluid in my overflow reservoir. Just wondering where I should start? Any thought and or ideas would be great. Also if you think i am low on anti freeze, do you think i should drain the hole thing and start fresh?
Thanks in advance

Heat Problem Suggestions
Typically it sounds like you have low coolant. Make sure the cooling system is full. One other thing that I have done is reverse the hoses on the Heater Core on the Firewall. Simply siwtch the hoses and the flow will reverse and if it if clogged or blocked you can possibly free the debris or blockage. I hope this helps.

I agree with BamaRam, always start with the most simple fix then move up the line. He is also right with switching your lines to clear the blockage. If it is the Thermostat, I hope for your sake that on that year they moved it somewhere easier to get to. I just replaced the one in a friends 98 Dodge and it was buried in a frickin hole......Also did his rear brakes, dude needs to learn to do this stuff on his own.
