Question Fuel Pump, 89 F250, 7.5

Our in-tank fuel pump was replaced last summer. I know when you turn they key on you should hear the pump do its thing. How long should you hear the hum that it makes?

If I just turn my key on I can hear my pump come on for about 8 or 10 seconds then turns off.

If the pump is in good shape and being fairly new, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 seconds of pumping. If it takes 8 to 10 seconds that the seals are going weak, if it takes longer than that then the seals are just bad and sooner than later the pump will start running continuously to try and keep the fuel pumped up.
