F350 hard starting, please help!
I have a 2000, F350 Super duty, crew cab, 235 hp 7.3L Turbocharged Diesel with 61,000 miles on it. About a month ago, it started getting hard to start when it had set for a few hours or overnight. It acted like it had low batteries. It will only start if you bump the starter for a few seconds stop wait a few seconds and try again, on the 3rd or 4th time it would start. Ford truck service center had it the first time for 3 days, claimed they found a loose ground wire on starter. The fix lasted a week. Problem returned. Next they told me the batteries were bad. After a few days the problem has returned. Repair bill is up to $300.00 by now but I still have the same problem! I can’t afford to keep paying for repairs that aren’t working. Has anyone ever had or heard of this type of problem? I know next to nothing about Diesels engines. If this was a Gasoline I would think it was a starter problem? They keep telling me that the starter checks okay. Thanks for any ideas you may have!
