Default Old vs. New

Ok here is my situation, I have a 1989 F-350 XLTin OK condition, The body need's to be restored. I love this year truck and I know some do not cause of the headlights. I have the fuel injct. 7.5 (460) with a five spd. and 205 transfer case with 144,000 miles on it. It is getting pulled to be freshened up tranny and case to. My neighbor just blew (not sure of the exact year) 1999 and up F-350 w/V10. He took the motor out and it's junk. He want's nothing to do with it but get it out of his yard. He got aCummins Dodge.I can have the truck cheap and it is clean. It has a fisher plow minute mount and so does mine so it's an automatic swap. Do I put my 460 in itand use his 6spd manualor my 5spd manual or just put the 89 back together. His front end is a little sloppy but I would replace it with my Dana 60 with tru-track and my rear with a detroit locker plus we know the axles are better up front in the earlier 350's. Now his truck has 158,00 so I know little stuff will go now and then but it will in my truck as well. Since I am in NY we can get away with swaps like this. What would you do. I do have a bed for my 89 that is in mint condition from an old mans F-150 2wd so I would need to concentrate on the cab if I stick with the older truck. I KNOW NOTHING about the 6spd. Are they strong? I could even consider that tranny in the older truck. Please shoot off a few suggestions. I know the newer trucks look sweet done up I aleady have the 35's on aluminum wheels, but at the same time the 87-91 era trucks are slowly hitting the junk yards and we are seeing less of them but this would be a neat project and my 460 got better fuel milage then the v-10. Thanks for your time.

ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS? I am guessing the 6spd is junk as for the newer fords and I will but the 89 back together and drive it with pride with better fuel milage then the boys with thier V 10 and their 7.3 Dieselsand getting the same hp and close to the same torque, not being left on the side of the road with the diesel 6.0 as they have the most lawsuits on that motor, and I know my front end will not be weak as for the rest of the drivetrain. I do not see aftermarket parts for the 89 helping make it strongerbecause it was strongfrom the factory and it rides nicer them my friends 2002 F-250 which has less springs and spring rate and has spent more times at the dealership for recalls then his own driveway. My question has been answered. The 89 F-350 with 7.5 and 5spd is a much better and stronger ride and has less rust then the newer models.

If I do not rely on ford then it would have to be a 93 or older dodge cummins 12 valve or 94 -99 6.5turbo diesel GMC (which I still have my 94 Diesel Suburban that needs to be repowered for hauling an airstream camper the ford is the money maker. I wish it came with a 7.3 cause I would replace it with a 6.5 turbo.Everything else has done s spirel spin downwards. Todays trucks have gone to junk.
