2003 S-10 automatic Trans.
Yes, my fluid was changed every 50,000 miles, it currently has over 117,000 miles on it. Lately when the trans warms up, I have harsh shifting into 1st. gear only, rest have very mild slippage. When the tranny is cold, it shifts fine. But when it warms I usually feather the gas pedal to stop the harsh shift into first. If I change my trans fluid should this take care of the problem? If I do it myself, I can't change whats in the torque converter, will it hurt if I only do the tranny only and not the converter? I can't afford the 200.00 to have a shop do it.

117,000 mls your a little over due for a full fluid change.
NO it won't hurt if you only do the tranni and not do a full tranni flush. It just won't be as effective as a full flush. It may solve the sticky valve body, it may not.
In a some what unrelated topic. If your going to keep your truck... I would continue your scheduled 100,000 ml fluid flush to your brake system cooling system, power steering and rear diff.

My suggestion is to save money for a shop to do it. I tried doing it myself and it only caused more problems for my car. I guess I can't always rely on YouTube for my car issues. If you have a friend who's knowledgeable with this kind of stuff, you can have him do it for you. Just a friendly suggestion

I have tried solving truck issues myself and i usually end up asking a professional mechanic to still take a look at it. I've had my share of overdue maintenance too, so yes, it would be wiser to have everything else checked while you're at it (which I think you already have).
