well i went and bought a code reader for my F350 turbo diesel 6.0L 2006 ...the code says it is ...fuel injector circuit low input cylinder 7 and stored code 1,4,5,6 any tips on this error code would greatly appreciate

 

P0279 Injector circuit low Cylinder 7 indicates an electrical problem with the injector, its wiring or the FICM. Most likley is Harness short to ground

 

thanks for the help ....i know i'm in trouble now ...the code on my dash now says ....water in fuel ....i'm wondering now if maybe this is my problem ,could water in gas trigger the code P0279 to come on ,now the truck wont start at all its minus 20 celsius out side ....i don't really drive the truck in the winter...i really appreciate the help

 

p0279 cannot be caused by anything in the fuel tank bad gas etc. It is a electrical issue. Check the wires and harness for the injector i bet you it is grounding out.

Make sure that none of the wires have been in contact with the engine and have melted.

Also you can verify that it is the number 7 injector by switching it out with another one say number 6.

 

thank you so much for your help ... how would you go about looking for a short in theses wires ,i just took a look at the area of #7 injector and it looks like a nightmare... now a stupid question is it easy too change a fuel injector ...i have a lot of time on my hands right now ...is there a site i can see how too change a injector

 

First check for a bad wire, follow all of the wires from the injector and harness and make sure NONE of the wires are in contact with the block. Sometimes they will come into contact with the engine and the heat will melt the outer coating of the wire causing it to ground out on the block.

Here are step by step instructions on how to change a injector.


1 Take a picture of the assembled engine or carefully make notes of how and where everything attaches. Remove the air intake system and any hoses, mounts, wires or other parts that are in the way of the injector railing.

2 Locate the bolts that hold the injector retaining rail in place and remove them. Pull out the rail to gain access to the injectors. Not all trucks have an injector retaining rail.

3 Pull out the first injector. The pressure in the system will make a small amount of gasoline squirt out with considerable force. If your injectors require a special removal tool you can purchase these at a dealership or local auto parts store.

4 Look for the old seal and make sure pieces are not stuck in the seat. Use a pick or small screwdriver to get any remnants out.

5 Prepare the new fuel injector by removing any caps and lubricating the seal with a small amount of motor oil. Move the new injector to the truck and place it next to the fuel line on a clean rag.

6 Attach the new fuel injector and pay careful attention to the manufacturer's recommended torque.

7 Connect any hoses, wires and other parts, taking time to clean off excess grease and dirt along the way. If you forgot where something connects look at your notes or the picture you took

well i couldn't find what was wrong with my truck ....so had it towed to ford ...and it was the ficm ....well it turned out to be a $1500 dollar day ...they did a diagnostics on it $110.00 one hour ...update the calibration $110.00 one hour labour and two hours to replace the ficm $220.00 ...well i lost it, two hours too take off 6 bolts ...and they reduced it too one hour ...what a joke ...i also bought the ficm core for $138.00 and will ship it too the place in the usa ...they will fix it for $350.00 ....i have two of these trucks the other truck has 90.000 km on it so i will have back up for that truck .....well worf thank you for all your help it was greatly appreciated
