2002 sierra 5.3 rough acceleration
hey all; new here; im having problems with a rough acceleration on the said vehicle; i will hit the gas and it will do nothing and then if i let off gas and get back on it again it will rev up and shift a little harder than normal; there is no warning lights on and it happens intermittantly; im thinking either plugs and wires or fuel filter? like i said i hit the gas and accelerates very slowly and then i get back on gas and it will accelerate weird and shift hard; thanks[/align]

RE: 2002 sierra 5.3 rough acceleration
im not thinking its the tranny; the engine will bog a little; im thinking either plugs and wires or fuel filter or injectors? the tranny is not slipping or anything like that; what are the possible causes of it starving for gas?

RE: 2002 sierra 5.3 rough acceleration
it has 86K; i changed the fuel filter this morning and that did not help; the truck will not respond with acceleration until the pedal is almost to the floor; then it will rev real high; it seems like it doesnt want to go unless the accelerator is nearly touching the floor; would a bad fuel pump be the cause maybe? how about plugs and wires? thanks

would it slip just coming off the line? is that the only conclusion you can figure for the info that ive given? the tranny doesnt act up at all any time and i only have this problem while coming from a stop signor light. thanks for the info. what kind of tranny problem and solutions with costs are you talking about?

sounds like the first gear clutches are gone....get an estimate from a dealer as well asa tranny shop...do your homework...Gm's Serta unit may be the best value...but first, make sure thats what is wrong

RE: 2002 sierra 5.3 rough acceleration
have not smelled fluid but coloring is right and this only happens once in a while and it seems to only happen when vehicle is not at normal operating temperature; when it warms up then the truck acts fine and tranny is not acting up any other time; do you have any rough ideas what a new clutches should cost installed? i know nothing of trannys and would love to think of this as a cheaper fix than a tranny; would a tranny flush with a new filter help? im sure the tranny has never been flushed and im sure its the original filter; like i said i replaced the fuel filter today and that didnt help; i am gonna continue to try to trouble shoot; do vehicles throw codes even if the check engine light isnt on? my check engine light is NOT on.....it just doesnt seem like its firing right or has the get up and go that it should; how about plugs, wires, distributor cap? i have not cleaned out the MAF like i was recommended but will do that tomorrow after work; thanks again argon
