Emergency Brake - Cable/Dash

Emergency Brake - Cable/Dash
1990 Chevrolet 1500 2WD 4.3 manual transmission.
How to turn off or release the emergency brake. Need instructions.
Problem: The pull release inside cab on dash. I pulled the release and the whole piece of plastic came out including about 15 inches of thin metal cable. Frayed end. I do not see the other end of broken cable. The emergency brake is on.
How do I release the emergency brake? Any suggestions?
To summarize, I went to release the emergency brake and the whole handle/plastic pull came out from dash - which included about 15 inches of thin metal wire. I have no idea how to release the emergency brake now.

RE: Emergency Brake - Cable/Dash
its cool...get down on the floor, and look at the mechanism..you'll see the 'lever' that the cable pulls on...just flip it forward with your finger and she'll release.
a new release handle should be about 15 bucks
