I want to make some lift on my 99' Tahoe but i just dont' have the money for a 6in suspension lift right now(nor will i have it for a while) but i want to add some ride height. i saw a kid with a 2dr tahoe(i have a 4dr) that said he "tightened his torsion bars"? i'm not fluent with parts talk so i think that was the word he use at least. Give me some feedback on this. How much lift will it give? Are there any advantages? What are the disadvantages? How will it effect the suspension? if there aren't any disadvantages then y don't they do this from the factory? ALL FEEDBACK ON THIS SUBJECT IS WELCOME, AND THANKYOU IN ADVANCE!!!

 

Ok someone correct me if im wrong. Torsion bars are only on 4wd trucks when you tighten up your torsion bars your front suspension will get stiffer torsion bars only lift about 2-3 inches and it only lifts the front. The bars are located in the area of your transfer case. If you choose to go this way you can buy lift blocks for the rear leaf springs. You might also want to check out leveling kits.

 

I did a little of research and torsion bars are not only for 4wd vehicles. Some trucks with a- arms have torsion bars. I crawled under my uncles truck firs to see what they were and they are a bar coming from your a-arms to the front of your t-case or under the cab on 2wd trucks. My truck i just sold to my dad is a 84 c-10 2wd and there were none on it. All of the guys that i know that have tightened their torsion bars said they tightened the bolts all the way down, then backed them out 3 turns and measured the threads to assurethje two bars were adjusted the same.

 

ya i used to hace a 99 4x4 and i jacked the tortion bars and look good but its not a whole lot of lift but it does level it out more it also improves handling
