Default 1/2 vs 3/4 ton

I am wanting to get my first truck and trying to figure out if I want to get a 1/2 ton or a 3/4 ton. I wanting it to be a daily driver with occasional towing. Work truck but do i really need a 3/4 for towing a couple times a year or better to get the 3/4 just in case I accually need it?

this is a quiet form so i'll wake up this old thread.

1500 series trucks should not be used for plowing. even if the plow is super light. the suspension system is not made for it.

get a 3/4 ton that is made to handle the stress plowing puts on the trans and suspension system. You will fix it a lot less often.

I've owned 6.0L 2500, a 5.7L hemi and a 4.8L 1500. The fuel mileage wasn't much different. the difference is a small engine 1500 is gutless and can't do much work.

I have to agree with Primem
I have always owned a haft ton and only recently owned a 3/4 ton.
It's nice to have that piece of mind knowing I'm not pushing the limits of my truck loading it with top soil in the box or towing my car hauler.

My Silverado 2500HD is my every day driver and feels good in knowing it is ready for work at any moment
