I've got a 2000 F-350 diesel with 44,000 miles. Within the last 5,000 miles, it has developed a shake in the steering wheel at times when hitting rough spots in the road. It seems to occur at speeds of 45 to 52 MPH. Sometimes it is mild, at other times it is more violent and does not ease until speed is decreased (or increased). I have had it to my front end mechanic-- he could not see anything wrong. Has anybody experienced this?

Dan

I too have front end shake over rough spots in the road but my truck is new and has always done this. I assumed the front springs need to be stronger and or the front shocks need to be upgraded to one with more rebound so as to hold the wheel to the road better. Let us know what you find out- sounds to me like with 44K miles maybe a heavy duty shock upgrade is in order.

could be a couple of things. check to make sure all nuts and bolts are tight having to do with steering and suspension. check the bearing nut on the shaft. if you have lifted your truck sometimes the degree of foward or backwards tilt is off and you get speed wobbles at around 40 to 50 mph. thats a tough fix cause you have to cut off the "C"'s and reweld them in the peoper place.(not on IFS)
check to see if your tires have gotten out of balane. wieghts can come off or tires wear uneven or cup.

I dont know if this will help but i have a 92 f350 and my track bar bushings were shiot and makeing my truck shake in the front end from speeds 30+ and wouldnt stop till you decrease speed over rought sopts inthe road. It was pretty severe going 70mph traveling over a bridge on the expressway and the front end starting to wobble liek my tires were going to fall off. Hope this is some  help to soemone. Frank
