So my truck has been running excellent. Everything has been working so nice, got a new water pump, changed the spark plugs, new distributer cap, spark plug wires, new muffler etc etc... Two nights ago i went out to my buddies house, had a few to many and slept at his place. The next morning, i got up at about 9 am and it was damn cold. Got in my truck, let it warm up a little and headed out. After about 5-6 mins of driving a constant 40 mph, suddenly my choke light goes on, as does my warning buzzer on my lights. If i turn off my lights, the warning buzzer goes away, but for some reason my choke is all screwy. I let my truck sit over night after using some carb and choke cleaner, and im having the same problems. I can get in, the choke light will be off, but as soon as i rev my engind or do any reverse or forward driving it comes back on. Because of this i am sucking gas like a mofo. Any ideas?

At this point i am 99% sure that it is just a wiring problem, and not a problem with my choke itself. None of my gauges except for my speedometer are working, i took the fuse out and it was blown, changed it again and i have nothing. My choke seems to still be working, just the choke light itself is reversed. My guess is that I have a short somewhere, or that i may just hopefully have something unplugged. Any help or comments?

Yes..look for a loose ground...I'm thinking back here...those old s-10's.. A ground under the dash...by the parking brake...lie on the floorboard and look straight up by the park brake...its a 10mm bolt...they would work loose and cause nutty cluster problems

Well i checked that, seems to be tight. I took out my radio and heater controls and I believe that i found the problem. There is about a 10-11 inch span of wires that is all melted and bare from 20 some years of use.. I can mess around with those wires and short out a brand new fuse. Im going to replace that cluster of wires here pretty quick and hopefully that is the problem and hopefully i dont have another short somewhere deeper.

Well, its is a clump of wires that go up behind my gauges, and go to my radio and heater/fan controls. 22 years of a radio getting warm, a cigarette lighter being used has taken its toll on it.
