Hey y'all.  I just learned about this site today and I'm lovin' it.  Owned a Ford pickup since I got my license.  Been in the Air Force for 13 years now wrenchin' on planes and wrenchin' at the house when I get a chance.  Current project is a '74 F100 4X4 with a 390.  Be happy to know any tricks for this year, or other good sites besides LMC to find parts.  Wanna swap the drum brakes out 'n' stuff.  Thanks again y'all for supportin' an awesome site like this so it stays up and runnin'.

Fixed helicopter engines for a few years and been workin' on Allison's (now Rolls Royce') T56 jet engine for the C130 airframe since then.

It's pretty amazing what it can withstand and the extreme situations that it's proved itself in.  It's used in several applications too.  They use the same engines to power oil pipelines, electric plants, all sorts of stuff.  There's a fella in Texas that has run several T56's non-stop for over two years.  Unvelievable.

Saw a few C-130's but saw alot of Orions and man's hearing 4 of those engines at full power on a climb out is pretty badass!

have you seen/heard the J-model C130?  engine's been recreated and operates with variable vanes like helicopter engines have been doin' for a while.  they're really quiet due to the six-bladed propeller (in comparison) the angle of climb is crazy!  cargo planes look wierd at that angle...just don't look right.

Nope only seen J models in mags or the internet.  Was discharged in 2004.  Cooliest C-130 I saw was Fat Albert, 4 thottled engines+ JATO= A great show.
