Descreened MAS - 7/2/2008 9:32:24 AM    timber74wolf   Posts: 156 Score: 0 Joined: 4/24/2008 Status: offline Just a quick question. My buddy has a 2001 Chevy with the 5.3. He descreened his MAS and said it hurt his gas mileage. So he gave it to me. The numbers mach my MAS so that is not a problem. Before I install it I was wondering if it will hurt my gas mileage, increase it, or just make it more responsive? I wonder if it was his driving, but he had it descreened for about 2 months and said it cut his miles per tank roughly 30 miles shorter of what he normally gets. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I say its a waist and there is no gains. Some say they got more throttle response. But I say to that its not worth the risk of detonation. Thats one of the things that can go wrong and you wont even know until its to late. Some people will say they have had it done for a while and have had no problems. The thing about that is they dont know if the are having problems. Unless they are using a wide band. If you ask me Id say why risk it for throttle response that not everybody has gotten from this mod. However, if you buy a granatelli or similar screenless MAFS, it it adjusted so as not to cause problems.   _____________________________ PM me for a custom sig or avatar!
