my vehicle: 1989 GMC G2500 Vandura, 5.7 L w/AC.

I replaced the waterpump and am reinstalling the factory fan clutch.
the diagram in the 1989 GMC Service Manual, page 6B1-35, says to align the yellow paint marks on the hubs of both.
the fan clutch hub has a yellow dot on its edge.
the water pump hub has no paint nor carved markings on it.

is this alignment critical? if so, how do I align the hubs?
the fan has offset blades. I doubt the water pump has anything special to require a specific alignment.
