Older (2002) K2500 Suburban with 8.1, 4L80E

I am just acquiring this truck to tow my 6,000# boat, mostly in flat Florida.
since the 8.1 is new to me, Is there anything you would recommend to tow safe or prepare it to wear well. It has 210,000 miles on it, so it is well broken in.
