96 transmisson?"
 

Ok I just got a 96 s10 blazer yesterday. The guy told me it slips in frist gear. I know the rear main oil seal is leaking like crazy so I am going to pull the engine and rebuild.

Now This is what I need to ask. I have a 94 s10 with a 4.3. Is the transmisson the same? From what I can tell online the blazer came with a 4L80E or a 4l60E

Where are the numbers so I can see witch one?
Will the 4L60E work out of the s10?

I'm almost 100% positive that you have the 4L60E... The 4L80E is a heavy duty transmission

Thanks, The more I think about it. I may just rebuild the one thats in there. I got a deal on the blazer. A few years ago I rebuilt a 700 turbo. Is there any major changes from the 700 to the 4l60?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that a 700R4 was the same as the 4L60, and a 4L60E was the same tranny with a bunch of electronic gunk on it. As I said, there is a VERY good chance I am wrong, but this was my impression

Your right the 4l60e is just a glorified 700r4 with more electronics and some other minor diffrences
