'97 S10 transmission problems
 

I have a 97 S10 SS, 4.3l. I drove about 300 miles on a trip today. In the last 20 miles, I went to pass a car and accelerated hard. The tach went to redline and the engine cut out 3 times before I could let off. A few more miles down the road, i noticed that it wouldn't shift into overdrive. When it finally did, it never fully locked up and felt like it was in between gears. When i started from a stop, it tached way up (at very mild acceleration) before it shifted to 2nd, and it shifted hard. 2nd to 3rd shifted fine. And it has no reverse now. So, did I toast the tranny or torque convertor? I did have the fluid/filter changed in February, about 2 months and 4000 miles before this incident. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a stripped/broken sun shell. Will cause no reverse, 2nd, and 4th. Req's teardown to repair. Recommend replacing with the 'Beast' sunshell. Google gm tsb 00-07-30-022.
