RE: check eng light

what a loaded question...here goes...class,pay attention..lol

gas cap loose...pcm runs a vacuum check on tank and discocers it....lite on.....

you tighten cap..

ok..ahem..

the pcm must run and see a "pass" 3 times on the tank.it uses a purge solenoid to pull vacuum on the tank, and see if it holds.

however...there is criteria BEFORE the pcm will ever even run test #1..

the tank must have over 1/4 tank gas in it.

the tank must be at least 1/4 empty

the ambient temp must be somewhat warm...not sure on the exact number

the engine must be brought to operating temp

of course, your trip is long enough for it to run

all that must be met before it tries test 1...THEN the car must be completeley powered down and cooled off before the next trip for test 2 to occur....

so...if you keep your gas tank full...it will never run

keep it empty.it will never run

make short trips,it will never run

on avberage,I'D say 3 days is a normal time for it to clear
