02 avalanche 8.1 vort. having problems with my fuel gauge
can anyone tell me why my low fuel light keeps coming on and the gauge is reading Empty.. it wil flicker for a moment when i start my truck up to show the correct amount of fuel but will drop right back down to empty.. if i fill the tank all the way up ( which sucks having a 37 gallon tank) it seems like the float or what ever will unstick so i think and it will read the gauge will read right. but if i gets down to about a quarter tank i will have to be careful cause it will read empty real fast again even with fuel in it... i have a half a tank now and it is still reading empty. i have checked the fuse and relay and still same problem..... is it my fuel pump???? please help:eek:

You can just get the sensor from the dealer. If it has alot of miles you may want to do the pump/assembly. It mounts on the pump/sender.

Sending unit on the pump, and its in the tank, I pretty sure you have to change the whole thing, my 01 tahoe has been doing that for a while, just can't let go of 300 bucks right now. By the way, thinking of trading my 03 6.0 silverado for a 01 same truck is mine, with the 8.1 in it. Are you happy with your setup and what kind of mpg's do you get, thanks.
