Default 02 Sierra

I'm in the process of buying an 02 Sierra. It has a GVWR of 8760 pounds, is that considered a 2500HD? I'm thinking it is as my Dodge 2500HD has a GVWR of 8800 pounds, so seems like the GMC would be the same. Also, it has the 6.0 litre engine, is there anything I should be watching for? I'm new to Chevy's/ GMC as I've been a Dodge guy my whole life, but the deal was just too good to pass up to buy this truck. Also, is there anywhere to get a build sheet? With my dodge, it's easy to get a free one, not sure about this truck, haven't found a source yet to get one for free.

Well first and not to sound like an *******, this forum isn't really that active lol There are a lot of web spiders and spam bots that scan forums like this all day long, and that's probably why the view count is up. Just now is the first time in a few days that I've logged in or even seen your post.

But anyways, intake gaskets have a tendency to cause vacuum leaks on a cold start. Brake lines go out occasionally due to rust, but GM offers an updated like kit that does not rust and are prebent and real easy to install. Transmissions go occasionally, but that's to be expected for any truck. Change your fluids, check your trans oil cooler and engine oil cooler lines for leaks, and drive your new to you Chevy. She'll be a good truck

lol, not a problem... guess I'm too used to the Dodge forum that I'm a member of. If I posted a question like that there, I'd have 10-15 replies within a couple of hours. Definitely liking the new ride, it's an 02 Sierra 2500Hd with 313,000 km on it, but looks immaculate, and not a drip of oil to be found... just gotta get used to the ride difference, my Dodge had the same weight rating, but rode and drove like a truck, the GMC feels like I'm driving a car, lol.
Anyways, any ideas of a GMC truck forum that's more active than this one?

There is a handful of people on this forum that answer questions, but usually the responses aren't overly quick lol

greatlakes4x4 is good, gm4x4 looks decent. I'm not a part of either forum, but just places I found while googling for random things. There are also facebook groups obsobsession is one and I'm sure there are others. I work at a Chevy dealer so I typically don't require too much assistance from forums I can't get first hand from my peers

Welcome to Truckforums, but be prepared this isn't necessarily a thriving community, and wont grow unless you and I post when we can and try to make it what we want it to be.

I'll check those other forums out... when I googled GMC forums, this one came up at the top of the list so I thought it might be a high-traffic one. Since you work at a Chevy dealer, are you able to run build sheets? Would love to have one showing me how this truck came from the factory.

Sure can, all I need is the last 8 characters of your VIN and I can get you as much information about your vehicle that is available. Unfortunately older vehicles tended to have paper documents on them that have since been discarded by GM, whereas newer vehicles are almost completely digitally documented. I mean information as far as engine serial numbers, frame serial numbers, build plant, time of completion etc. Not a lot of that information will be available on your truck, but I can probably get the RPO codes, build date, plant locaion, open recalls, if any, and possibly a small amount of service history. The only service history that it will tell me about are old GM warranty claims made back when the vehicle was serviced at a dealer while under warranty.
