Hi der just bought this 02 wit 141k kilometres. Brake problem. press brake pedal seems to go lower than it shud, if pressed really hard there is grinding noise towards the end of play, a sudden resistance then then after that brakes apply again. Observation: while i was pulling into parking lot and went to stop, the pedal met this resistanc, (grinding ) there is loss of braking at this point till the pedal gets thru this resistance spot. Its only there at the bottom of play. pedal seems to go lower than it should. The res is 1/2 full. Havent pulled the wheels yet. Any comments wud be appreciated. Thanks

 

Do a brake job, turn the rotors, let us know what it's doing after that.

 

Done brake job, rotors were bad. Brakes pedal up now, same problem. Drove out into field wit new brakse,then the prob started again. noisy grinding during pedal play, momentary loss of brakes till pedal is forced thru the rough spot. Upward pulsing pressure on pedal as its being forced down thru grinding spot. Hope this helps, thanks. No ABS lite showing on dash when running.

 

I think you have unwanted abs operation...maybe a speed sensor setting abs off too soon

 

Mine kinda does the same thing at low speeds when I hit pot holes while hitting the brakes. (Damn PA roads!)
