Just wondering if anybody has heard of a solution to steering problem on these trucks.

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4 Ext Cab 1500. The problem is when I'm stopped, with the truck running, it's almost impossible to turn the wheel to the left. Turning right is fine...but left is really hard when stopped or at low speeds. At higher speeds it's not as noticable...but you can still feel it a bit. I've been looking around and it seems like it's a pretty common problem...but couldn't find a solution. I'm just trying to avoid changing all the steering components at random till something works.

There was a review about the steering shaft. GM made another one to replace it. Its not a recall item but costs bout $70 and very easy to replace. Might look into that.
