06 Silverado Keyless Entry problem
 

My dad purchased a 2006 silverado ext cab (v6 motor) with power windows, power locks, power steering etc etc. He purchased a keyless entry remote off of ebay with programming instructions.Here is the problem, when it goes into programming mode the doors lock and unlock...then you push both lock and unlock on the keyless remote and within 15-45 the doors should lock and unlock confirming its programmed. But instead its withing 5 seconds and the remote is not unlocking or locking the doors. My question is, if you have power locks does keyless entry come standard? Or is there something else going on. (I also tried my spare keyless entry to my truck to make sure the ebay one was fine.)

no...it does not come automatic...BUT...since your truck entered the programming mode,it has rke.

MOST of the time I see such a problem..its because the fob IS NOT FOR THAT TRUCK.....there are dozens that look identical,but only the correct fob will work.

I used a my spare remote to my truck which is a 03 silverado and it did the same thing as well. Then numbers on the remotes match, so its the right one. I even opened it to make sure it had a battery.

try programming the new fob to your truck...it could be ka-put

I had similar problems when I purchased a handful of remotes off ebay. Numbers matched but programming them the same way my friend programmed his 2003 didn't work for me. Make sure the proceedure is correct. Then again the remote might just be bad or the battery in it might be dead or dying.

What is exact the proceedure you are using? You tuning the key on and off a few times?
