Default 07silverado classic no 4x4 low,no nuteral light

just wondering if any body had a problem with no neutral light and it not going into 4x4 low .I've read all the post about no 4x4 low but no one has mentioned neutral light it doesn't come on in dash or on the 4x4 switch . I know that computer has to recognize it to be in neutral to go in 4x4 low .if anybody has had this problem please let me know maybe can pin point before I start changing a bunch of parts there are no codes showing up. got scammed for 300 bucks at Riverview gm. in Wallaceburg and no solution they just wanted to keep looking into it for an astronomical fee.
thanks big jeff

I thought the tcase neutral light button would only come on when you put the tcase in neutral, not in 4 low.

What neutral light on the dash are you referring to; the trans prndl ?

For 4 low to work, you have to put the trans in neutral and come to a stop. I'm sure you already know this, but honestly, if I were to take a guess, it's most likely your encoder motor, or your front axle engage solenoid.

Way to test the solenoid, lift the front of the truck, and using a tech2 or other bi-directional capable scan tool, spin the LF wheel, watch the passenger wheel and see that it does not spin, but the front differential yoke does. Now using the scan tool, engage the front actuator, and spin the wheel again, and notice that the passenger wheel now spins. That tells you that the actuator is working.

Other than that, considering that you'd need a tech2 or other scanner to do that test, you should probable scan it for codes anyways. I say "most likely" the encoder motor, only because that's usually the part that fails. The problem "doesn't have to be" the encoder motor though. You're going to have to scan it for codes, and maybe even remove the encoder motor and get a pair of pliers and see if you can manually turn the xfer case to 4low.

All in all, if the dealer wanted addition time further than the $300 they already charged you, I would assume that your problem is unique and strange. Generally speaking, they'll scan it for codes and continue with a diagnostic chart from GM that will eliminate possible causes until they narrow it down. So ... unless that didn't work for them, I don't see why they would need additional time unless your problem was unique and strange. Or they were just incompetent.

P R N D 3 2 1 nuteral is the one of the lights that don't light up and when the n is light up the n nuteral light on the 4x4 will indicate as I went to a couple of car lots to see if this was the caseand mine don't work so I will check out the encoder motor . there are no codes and the front axel actuator does work properly thanks for the help ill let you know what I come up with. if any body has more thoughts post it thanks again

The light on the PRNDL is a separate issue from the transfer case issue. While it's annoying, it's a instrument cluster issue.
