Default 09 Silverado Trans hitch

New 09 Silverado 1500 crew cab. 5.3L, 6-speed automatic.

Since day 1 this truck has regularly hitched/pulled into 2nd gear when coasting on level or slight downhill. It happens every morning as I am cruising slowly through my neighborhood at approx 15-20 mph.

Dealer was able to reproduce but says "as designed" and that if a bulletin comes up they will inform me.
I find it hard to believe that it is as designed as it is quite a loud clunk when it happens.

Anyone else have this issue? I believe the 6-speed was new to 09 but not sure?

Ty in advance

yep it is as designed its a new tranny and I would bet that as these get miles on them they will come out with a bulliten......but they dont have a failure rate yet.........just gotta be patient.

I didn't know what it was doing but mine also "clunks" occasionally when driving slowly through my neighborhood. I thought about taking it back to the dealer but it doesn't do it enough to make it repeat. Any idea that it's going to eventually be a point of failure?

I'll get back on here in a few days and let you know what I can find out. I am going to school for automotive technology and we have access to programs that allow us to see any technical service bulletins for any vehicle after 1981. Sometimes the 2009s might be too new to have information regarding this but it's worth looking into.

The 6-speed transmissions are new to the 09 silverados and just like with many new part designs it usually takes a few years for the engineering to get all the bugs out. I hope I can find some usefull information for you.
